pooja195 (pooja195):

Simplify

pooja195 (pooja195):

\[(\frac{ 7x^-2y }{ x^8y-5})^3\]

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

And?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Ah. Simplify. OK. Then you need to get things factored so they can cancel.

pooja195 (pooja195):

I started this today im confused i have no idea what to do ;-; do i distribute the 3?

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Here is the question written correctly in latex :P \(\Large(\frac{ 7x^{-2}y }{ x^{8}y^{-5}})^3\)

pooja195 (pooja195):

im not a LaTex genius :P

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Well first off \(\Large a^x \times a^y = a^{x+y}\) \(\Large a^{-x}=\frac{1}{a^x}\) \(\Large\frac{a^b}{a^c}=a^{b-c}\)

pooja195 (pooja195):

so i do distribute?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

If the whole thing is ^3, that does not matter at the moment. Though, I think we are not seeing the question quite as asked...

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Well first lets use the second formula and simplify \(\ x^{-2}\) and the \(y^{-5}\) We will at the end then do the ^3

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

If it is as TSP says, then yah, all you need are those rules.

pooja195 (pooja195):

TSP xD um...so i x^-2+8?

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Yup! And what is -2+8=? And remember this value is going to be in the denominator.

pooja195 (pooja195):

ok nvm i have it thanks!! :D

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Np then :)
