the solution to \[ax^2+bx+c=0\] is \[x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}\]
in your case \(a=3,b=1,c=10\) plug them in and use a calculator because they want the decimal approximation
onoh since you have to use a calculator anyways, you might as well cheat and use it from the start http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=3x%5E2+%2B+x+%2B+10+%3D+0

you can see that the graph lies entirely above the x axis that means it never crosses or touches the x axis that means it is never zero no solution
