\(\huge \sf \color{plum}{ Journey~ from~ DNA~ to~ Protein}\) Part 2: \(\sf \color{lightsalmon}{Transcription }\)
We went through the \(\sf \color{tan}{structures~ of~ DNA~ and~ RNA}\) in part1 of this tutorial. If you have not gone through it and don't know about it, make sure to go through it : http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/54f7651ae4b091cfc28e2ae2 Now we can proceed Transcription is \(\sf \color{turquoise}{making ~of~ mRNA~ using~ DNA~ strand~ as~ a~ template. }\) Now before going into details You should know regions on DNA \(\sf \color{blueviolet}{Axon}\) - coding region \(\sf \color{#FF7F50}{Intron}\) - non-coding region \(\sf \color{brown}{Promoter}\) - region of DNA that is responsible for initiating transcription of a particular gene, and thus is located near transcription start sites: \(\sf \color{#FFD700}{TATA~box}\), on the same strand and upstream on the DNA. As an addition, there are terms referring to direction in which transcription takes place: \(\sf \color{#CD5C5C}{Upstream}\) & \(\sf \color{#800000}{Downstream}\) \(\sf \color{#CD5C5C}{Upstream}\) is toward the 5' end of the RNA molecule and \(\sf \color{#800000}{Downstream}\) is toward the 3' end. |dw:1426584860628:dw|
|dw:1426584934196:dw|
|dw:1426584976833:dw|
When considering double-stranded DNA, \(\sf \color{#CD5C5C}{Upstream}\) is toward the 5' end of the coding strand for the gene in question and \(\sf \color{#800000}{Downstream}\) is toward the 3' end. Due to the anti-parallel nature of DNA, this means the 3' end of the template strand is \(\sf \color{#CD5C5C}{Upstream}\) of the gene and the 5' end is \(\sf \color{#800000}{Downstream}\).|dw:1426585042673:dw|
|dw:1426585748068:dw|
|dw:1426585812012:dw|
Remember: \(\sf \color{red}{DNA~ Replication~ and ~Transcription~ always ~happen ~in ~5'~ to~ 3' ~direction}\) - Upstream (in case if anyone wants tutorial on DNA replication- let me know)
So these are the regions of DNA
very nice. i like it
AWESOME! perfect that's what kind of tutorial i wanted to see latex diff colors just PERFECT!!
and gO_Od info! :-)
doin my best to make it easy and attractive at the same time :D
