What is the slope of the line passing through the points (–1, 3) and (4, –7)? A. 2 B. 3/4 C. -4/3 D. -2

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

(-1,3) and (4,-7) x1 = -1 x2 = 3 y1 = 4 y2 = -7 slope(m) = y2 - y1/x2 - x1

OpenStudy (ahsome):

Thats easy enough. Simply use the Gradient formula: \[m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}\] Where: \((x_1,y_1) = (–1, 3)\) \((x_2,y_2) = (4, –7)\) Substitute, and solve :) \[m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}\] \[m=\frac{-7-3}{4--1}\]

Is D correct

OpenStudy (ahsome):

Yes, @tiffany121699, it is D :)
