Pentagon HIJKL and pentagon PQRST are similar. What is the scale factor? A. 6.4 B. 4.8 C. 1.4 D. 0.7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since they are similar, you know that the side lengths that are given have to be similar also. since one is 12cm and the other is 16.8cm, you have to divide 16.8 by 12. this will give you the scale factor of 1.4 (C) hope this helps!

The temperature of an oven went from 360° to 280°. What was the percent decrease in temperature to the nearest percent? A. 22% B. 29% C. 80% D. 130%

OpenStudy (samanthagreer):

refreash if there are question marks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The initial temperature is 360. The final temperature is 280. Subtract 280 from 360, and divide the result by 320. Multiply this number by 100 to turn it into a percentage. Essentially what you're looking for is the change in temperature divided by the starting temperature, or, as I tend to put it, (initial - final)/initial this should give you A, or 22%
