What causes nickel and certain other metals to be magnetic? A. the motion of protons in their atoms B. the pattern of electrons in their atoms C. the influence of the earth's magnetic field D. their atoms have more electrons than protons

well @madmoiselle_sarcasm let me explain and i hope i help :). it is caused by electrons (charged particles) moving in a certain way. magnetism is caused by current. miniature current is created by each electron orbiting atomic nucleus. however due varying configurations of orbitals, many of them cancel each other so only certain atoms exhibit magnetic properties. but not all metal are magnetic.
