well the earth rotates on a axis this makes it rotate on a angle now when the top of the earth is facing the sun its summer this makes days last longer because more of the earths surface is covered by sun light now when the north pole is facing away from the sun its winter the days are shorter so the seasons pend on where earth is in relation to the sun
