MEDAL AND FAN!!! Can someone explain to me how to determine if a sequence is geometric and arithmetic?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iGreen @perl @poopsiedoodle

OpenStudy (igreen):

Geometric = Multiplying the numbers Arithmetic = Adding the numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you give examples of each?

OpenStudy (igreen):

5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 This is Arithmetic because it adds 5. 2, 8, 32, 128 This is Geometric because it multiplies 4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok, can you help me on one more thing?

OpenStudy (igreen):

Sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so, why is the sequence( 2,3,5,8,12) not arithmetic and is geometric?
