What was the conclusion of the United States Indian Peace Commission? White settlers should respect Native American culture and adopt some of its practices. Peace would come if Native Americans settled on farms and adapted to white civilization. The U.S. government should recognize Native Americans as a separate nation and offer them protection. Native Americans should be allowed to keep their land and practice their cultural beliefs.
