Which of the following tables is an example of inverse variation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My first answer is the A. , because i divide all of it and it's all equal

OpenStudy (radar):

Choose the one where y is going the opposite way that x is going

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But my answer is wrong, so not A.

OpenStudy (radar):

Choose the one that as the value of x increases, y decreases or the value of x decreases, y increases.

OpenStudy (radar):

Do you see why a is wrong? As x increases so does y

OpenStudy (radar):

They must act inversely!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because it's all equal? i mean if i divide x and y i get same answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Should i divide or multiply ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find if the x is increasing or decreasing and y increasing or decreasing.

OpenStudy (radar):

There is a table that as x increases y decreases. It is very simple to tell if x is increasin 2 4 6 8 10 increasing 10 8 6 4 2 decreasing. you just look at the sequence, if the next number is larger than the previous number it is increasing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If i choose one more answer, i would go to C. because x is increasing and y is decreasing.

OpenStudy (radar):

Let me look

OpenStudy (radar):

c does have an inverse relationship, and that is what you were looking for.

OpenStudy (radar):

Good luck with your studies.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks for your time sir, you really helped my a a lot :)) I got a big test for tomorrow so i really need to study :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wish you are my teacher online with public service.

OpenStudy (radar):

Is English your first language?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No sir, Filipino is my first language :))

OpenStudy (radar):

I am thinking that you may difficulty understanding me, but I think you do now know the difference between direct and inverse relations. Again good luck with your studies.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes sir i have a little bit difficulty to understand you but, i get it now :))

OpenStudy (radar):

Ciao

OpenStudy (radar):

That was Italian good bye, is Filipino Spanish or is it a unique language?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They have a similar words. I don't know, it's hard to explain :))

OpenStudy (radar):

good bye, I let you study in peace.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok sir thanks :))
