MEDAL!! Solving logarithm equation

OpenStudy (clamin):

OpenStudy (academicgurusinc):

problem #4 right?

OpenStudy (clamin):

yes

OpenStudy (academicgurusinc):

Alright so move -log4(x-2) to the other side. What do you get?

OpenStudy (academicgurusinc):

So you'll get log4(2x+1)=1+log4(x-2) Then you can use the power rule of logarithms. log4(x+1)=log4(4^1)+log4(x-2) So you have same bases. Then you can turn it into an equation So 2x+1=4(x-2) Simplifies to: -2x=-9 Solve for x and you'll get x=9/2 as your final answer. Hope that helps.
