What is a primary audience of a text/article ???

OpenStudy (hugsnotughs):

It always depends. A fiction story would generally have an audience that wants to be entertained. Being more specific, a coming-of-age fiction usually has teenagers, young adults, and adults who want to remember their adolescence as their main audience. While erotic fiction has a mature audience that want a sexy, steamy read. A non-fiction story would generally have an audience that wants to learn. More specifically, a non-fiction article about a spider would have primary audience of people who want to know about more about arachnids. And let's say this article is something simple like "A spider has eight legs" -- then it would be aimed for a younger audience that wants to be taught the basics in a way that they understand, but if the spider article says something like "Like other arthropods, spiders are coelomates in which the coelom is reduced to small areas round the reproductive and excretory systems." then it is for older teens and adults who know a little bit more and want to learn a bit more in depth of spiders.

Previous research provided limited documentation of both beneficial and challenging laptop behaviours in higher education classrooms making it difficult to draw comparisons. the current study provided a comprehensive analysis of both positive and negative laptop behaviours using laptop survey and qualitative data. Beneficial behaviours observed included note-taking activities, in class laptop-based academic tasks, collaboration, increased focus, improved organisation and efficiency and addressing special needs. Challenges included other students' distracting laptop behaviours, instant messaging, surfing the web, playing games, watching movies and decreased focus. Almost 3 quarters of the students claimed that laptops were useful in supporting the in-class academic experience. Beneficial behaviours were reported more often than challenging behaviours by a factor of 2:1. It is postulated that actively integrating meaningful laptop activities in to classroom will increase the frequency of beneficial laptop behaviours. Who could be the primary audience and why ?

OpenStudy (hugsnotughs):

And then there's also persuasive articles which try to convince you to try something. If there is a persuasive article convincing a group of people to buy an iPhone, it is probably because that group of people (audience) are Android users or do not have a phone at all.

OpenStudy (hugsnotughs):

Well I think that what they are talking about here is the advantages and disadvantages of using a laptop in a classroom. They made a research and are showing to someone. They are most likely showing it to someone who wants to decide whether to use laptops in their classroom(s) or continue using them if they already have. Who do you think would want to know if they should use laptops for their students in their classroom?

OpenStudy (rane):

teachers/administration ?

OpenStudy (hugsnotughs):

Yes, I agree.
