I am lost on this:we have a room containing a block hanging vertically from a rope attached to the ceiling of the room. The tension in the rope is 10.0 N. The weight of the block is 8.00 N. What is the acceleration of the block? Show your work.

absolutely none, my teacher said attempt this yourself

|dw:1426668262207:dw| F = mg + ma F - mg = 10 - 8 = ma = 2 weird question, the block has to be acceletating in vertical direction for this to make sense, ie it is not just "hanging" there. presume you use 9.8 or 10 for g and find m from the weight of 8N.
