OpenStudy (anonymous):

why does a spacecraft have to be airtight?

OpenStudy (shadeyghost):

so the oxygen tanks inside of it don't leak out, and so the vacuum doesn't suck out the air and suffocate the astronaughts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh okay thanks!!!

OpenStudy (zairahernandez):

A spacecraft should be airtight because space is a vacuum, and a non-airtight spacecraft would vent atmosphere, making it impossible to breathe in the spacecraft.
