which of the following is an example of acceleration? a. a girl drives a total distance of240 miles in just under four hours. b. a girl walks two miles per hour north for three hours. c. a boy walks to meters north, turns west, and walks another two meters. d. a boy walks two miles in one hour.
Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity. It can be expressed as miles per hour per hour or miles per hour squared, because the speed is miles per hour and the time is hour. Hence, asnwer is B.
Note C also. velocity includes both speed and direction, in C there was a change in direction thus their was acceleration.
acceleration would include both a change in speed or a change in direction.
I think b is not right!!!
There is no change of velocity in option b
Magnitude of velocity is not changing. And the direction of velocity is also not changing in option b
But guys, I think if you vote for C, there is only change in direction, in this case DISPLACEMENT. If they were at least mentioning time,it would have been displancement-time, giving velocity. That is why I chose B, because thereis velocit mentioned and it is in a direction, which is north and the time is there. Therefore velocity/time= acceleration.
@srodda15, what is the answer?
it was c.
Ok.
