OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

Explain how diffraction gratings are like two-slit diffraction

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

Well a diffraction grating is a light barrier with many equidistant parallel slits. A two-slit diffraction is basically two slits that are close together. the highest point is at the central, and from there on out it fades away. With diffraction gratting its more slits very closely together for infinity

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

Yup, thats right

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

So basically all it takes from the two slit diffraction is the closeness of the slits?

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

and number of slits
