OpenStudy (saaarrrahhhh):

Nina graphs the function y = ⌊x⌋ to learn the properties of the parent floor function. What is the value of y when x =5.7?

OpenStudy (alyssa_xo):

the floor function results in the lowest integer below the input for example floor(6.4)=6

OpenStudy (alyssa_xo):

well less than or equal to the input

OpenStudy (saaarrrahhhh):

@alyssa_xo so it'd be 5 correct? you dont round up?

OpenStudy (alyssa_xo):

yeah. rounding isn't technically the right word to use here the ceiling function does what you're describing though

OpenStudy (alyssa_xo):

for example \(\lceil 5.5 \rceil=6\\\lfloor 5.5 \rfloor=5\\\lfloor 4 \rfloor=4\)

OpenStudy (saaarrrahhhh):

I got you! thanks so much

OpenStudy (alyssa_xo):

anytime :D
