Always start by choosing and labeling variables:
s = sam's age now
2s = brother now

s + 7 = Sam in 7 years
2s + 7 = brother in 4 years


s + 7 = 2/3 (2s + 7)
s + 7 = 4/3 s + 14/3

Multiply by 3 to get rid of the fractions
3s + 21 = 4s + 14
-3s - 14.. -3s - 14

7 = s so use that to answer and check
