Thank you, do you know what all of the other stuff is for. The answer is {x | x = 0.5 or x = 4.5}, but I don't know how they got answer.

2x - 5 = 4                               - (2x - 5) = 4
2x = 4 + 5                              -2x + 5 = 4
2x = 9                                     -2x = 4 - 5
x = 9/2                                     -2x = -1
x = 4 1/2 or 4.5                       x = 1/2 or 0.5
