What important role do bacteria called decomposers play?
They decompose the dead organic matter (dead remaining parts of living organisms) into simple substances with the help of their enzymes and then use them as a source of nutrients. These are called saprotrphic bacteria and in this way they act as recyclers of the ecosystem along with fungi which too have the same absorptive heterotrophic mode of nutrition. I hope that helps.
