OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

I was wondering what would a triangle and its reflection image in the x-axis look like?

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

@confluxepic

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

You multiply every y point of the triangle and graph it.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

|dw:1426804512648:dw|

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

|dw:1426804534143:dw|

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

So it would look like this?

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

@confluxepic

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Correct. @ayyookyndall

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

Can you help me with one more?

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Sure.

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

Which image has reflectional, rotational, and point symmetry?

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

This is A

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

This is B

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

This is C

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

This is D

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

@confluxepic

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Hold on.

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

Isn't it A?

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Yeah. I think so but I may not be that correct.

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

Should we ask for help?

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

@TheSmartOne

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

@bibby

OpenStudy (bibby):

Given the reflection symmetry, we can cancel B and D. They're not mirror images of themselves when cut down horizontally. Given rotational symmetry we can cancel C because it's an oval, not a circle. When you rotate it one way it'll be longer than the other way

OpenStudy (bibby):

so A

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

So yeah. We were correct. @ayyookyndall

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

C also has doesnt have point symmetry. You would need a point.

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

Thank you @bibby

OpenStudy (bibby):

nice work conflux
