Which statement about suicide is true? A.) People who threaten suicide don't follow through on their threats are not suicidal. B.) Some people see suicide as their only way out of their emotional pain. C.) People who commit suicide have a long history of emotional problems. D.) Teens at risk for suicide are less likely to use drugs and alcohol than their non-suicidal peers. I'm not completely sure at all :(

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

For sure, A and D are not correct. B.) Some people see suicide as their only way out of their emotional pain, sounds the most true. C is also really close, but some people are suicidal over acute problems, so it doesn't have to be overtime.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well i think it is c from using the basic knowledge i know, suggestion, go with what you think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I definitely say, B.

OpenStudy (aggie12341):

Definitely C

OpenStudy (elise_a18):

B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The reason it is not C is because not all people who commit suicide have had a long history of emotional problems. For example, someone could be very happy their whole lives, and then maybe one day something in their life hurts them and they become severely depressed, leading them to suicide in order to escape the issue, or another reason. As someone who works in a mental health facility, I experience this a lot with patients. I hope this helps.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B is I think. Because they think it is a way out of their problem.

OpenStudy (inexilewetrust):

B. Some people feel they are trapped in their emotional problems and see no way out except through death.
