"What are some of the word choice changes you would make to Richard Blanco’s “One Today”? Why did you choose these changes? How do they affect the meaning of the poem?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have any ideas about specific parts of the poem you are thinking about?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not really

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought the poem was fine as is, so I don't really know what I would change.

well, you could look for seemingly complex words and replace them with simpler synonyms. The reason to replace is because people can understand simpler words and can gain a better understanding of the poem. As for the effect, you could say that on one hand, it may take away from the intensity and flow of the poem. On the other hand, it makes it more easily understood by a larger group of people.

Thank you, that makes sense.
