OpenStudy (shamim):
2x-5y=16
2*3-5y=16
y=?
OpenStudy (reneeshumpert):
so do you want me to do the elimination method?
OpenStudy (shamim):
No
OpenStudy (reneeshumpert):
well then explain ? because throwing out an equation isnt helping me

Frm my equation
6-5y=16
-5y=16-6
-5y=10
y=?
OpenStudy (reneeshumpert):
okay you guys are really skipping ahead , I need something more step by step because I'm completely lost and neither of you are good at explaining . thanks tho
OpenStudy (shamim):
Can i try once more!!!
OpenStudy (shamim):
Now i wanna show u elimination method. It will b easier
OpenStudy (reneeshumpert):

I made a mistake anyway
do you see if you add the 2 equations we get
2x + bx - 5y + 5y = 27?
OpenStudy (shamim):
2x-5y=16............(1)
bx+5y=11...........(2)
OpenStudy (welshfella):
- this is the elimination method
- the 2 5y's disappear
OpenStudy (shamim):
U know
-5y+5y=?
OpenStudy (reneeshumpert):
Im just going to take a guess and move on ...

but I'll leave it to shamim - you might get confused having 2 people explain it
OpenStudy (shamim):
So we hv
2x+bx=27
Right?
OpenStudy (welshfella):
you shouldn't guess - that's not the way to learn..
OpenStudy (shamim):
Just put x=3 in my last equation
2*3+b*3=27
6+b*3=27
3b=27-6
3b=21
b=?
OpenStudy (reneeshumpert):
7?
