(1) Last week, I visited a second-grade class to teach a short reading lesson. (2) Sitting all around me on the floor, the students listened as I read to them one version of The Three Little Pigs. (3) Their teacher had read to them a different version of the story the previous day. (4) After reading the story, I asked the students to point out differences between the two versions of The Three Little Pigs. (5) Not knowing the names of the kids, it was difficult to call on them for answers. (6) I felt rude every time I pointed at a student I was calling on.
