Solve this equation. 11y = 88 8 1 8 77 99

OpenStudy (igreen):

You want to get rid of '11', so we do the opposite.

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

What's \[88 \div 11 \]

OpenStudy (igreen):

Is 11 being added, subtracted, multiplied, or divide by 'x'?

OpenStudy (igreen):

*divided

I've got no idea....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11 x ? = 88 Then you have your answer

OpenStudy (igreen):

Well another way to write 11 * y is 11y..so it's being multiplied.. To get rid of '11' we do the opposite and divide it to both sides.

OpenStudy (igreen):

What do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 8...

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yep, that's our answer.
