QUADRILATERAL (quad-four, lateral-sides) - A four-sided polygon. Generally speaking, it has only 3 types and it was clearly listed and defined below: 1) PARALLELOGRAM - a quadrilateral whose opposite sides are parallel. Three special types of parallelograms: a. SQUARE - a special type of a rectangle in which all the sides are equal. b. RECTANGLE - a parallelogram in which the interior angles are all right angles. c. RHOMBUS - a parallelogram in which all the sides are equal. 2) TRAPEZOID - a quadrilateral with one pair of parallel sides. 3) TRAPEZIUM - a quadrilateral with no two sides that are parallel. It is commonly known as the General Quadrilateral.
