Alright, so i'm wanting to connect my macbook pro to my visio tv. I just want to make sure what i'm doing is correct or not. i'm using my mini display port connected with a VGA cord. can't i just use the vga cord in the adapter since it has the hdmi cord on it?

if your computer has VGA out you can plug that from your laptop into the TV, however that would be quite a short cord.   If it has an HDMI port just get an HDMI cable and plug from computer to TV
