@perl
What \(\LaTeX\) do you know so far?
basic math equations. that sort of thing $$ \Huge \iiint_E f(x,y,z) ~ dV $$
I meant \(\TeX\) for artistic purposes
not much
So you obviously know basic LaTeX, do you know colors?
♀♪►♫↕‼◄♪♀♪♫☼↓→↨§↑∟←↔#"▼ #$%&à=>?@ABCDEGHIJKLMNOQRSTUVWXY[\]^_Eabm÷kßOº;M∩xñ1-1%♣1τ♣‼ù!╗S
perl, do you know colors?
nope
teach me :)
Ok, I'll show a color table, then you can pick a color from there and i'll show how to place it into a code
is there an easy latex command to make a new line
Yes, \\
i mean with space for example $$ \large { test \\ testing } $$
how do put a space between test and testing
Hmm, let me test this out :)
`\(\Huge{Test\\~\\testing}\)`
This is what i got, @perl
thanks, let me try
\(\Huge{Test\\ ~ \\testing}\) $$ \Huge \color{red} { you~ are ~ a ~genius } $$
:D Thank you!!
ok next thing that bugged me, when i post urls with braces in them { } , the blue hyperlink turns black
Hmm, can you give me an example? so i can try to fix it so i can show you?
` $$ testing $$ ` ok this prevents latex from showing, cool
do you see how the end of the link turned black
but thats part of the url
Hmm, let me try something.
I'm going to try to turn it into a hyperlink :)
\(\Huge\href{http:///www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=\sum_{n%3D1}^{5}+n+}{\sf perl}\) Click it and see if it brings you to the page your trying to get to.
Did it work?
yes, thats really cool , you embedded the link in the latex
Yup! :)
So have you picked a color?
another way around it is use wolfram link without any { } braces or \ \
Hmm, interesting. :)
$$ \Huge\href{http:///www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=\sum_{n%3D1}^{5}+n+} {\sf click ~me} $$
whats a good color. i like neon
Hmm, most likely lime
It's like a neon green
is there a quick way to put text in your latex without using \text { }
I as thinking about making an Ad for OpenStudy and this is what i got, tell me what you think :)
Wait, what?
$$ \Huge\href{http:///www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=\sum_{n%3D1}^{5}+n+ } {\bbox [10pt, red, border:5pt solid blue] {\Huge\cal \color{yellow}{\bigstar} \color{yellow}{C} \color{yellow}{l} \color{yellow}{i} \color{yellow}{c} \color{yellow}{k}~ \color{yellow}{M} \color{yellow}{e} \color{yellow}{\bigstar} } } $$
its a good ad, except for the geniuses part.
Oh, you don't need to say \text. For example, `\(perl\)`
Yeah, i was at a loss for words there, any suggestions?
i mean inside $$ \Large V=\frac{4}{3} \pi r^3~ \text{ now i want to say text here} \\ ~ \\ $$
``` \(\Large V=\frac{4}{3} \pi r^3~ {~now~i~want~to~say~text~here} \\ ~ \\\)
Try that out :)
\(\Large V=\frac{4}{3} \pi r^3~ {~now~i~want~to~say~text~here} \\ \\\)
:)
that works, just the annoying ~ ~ :)
what is a quick way to put underline , a long line underneath
well you just said it :) \underline. Watch
ok
``` \(\Huge\underline{perl~is~getting~good~at~\LaTeX}\)
Try that :)
it would be nice if you could save templates. like i usually start with ` $$ \Large { } $$ `
\( \Huge\underline{perl~is~getting~good~at~\LaTeX} \\ cool \)
:)
$$\Huge\underline{\text {help I am running out of room soon help help }} $$
So you could do this, ``` \(\underline{\Large V=\frac{4}{3} \pi r^3~}\)
how do you know before you post the length of a line
well if its reaching the end of the preview, i usually go back a word or two and place \\ so it makes another line
\( \underline{\Large Volume~of~a~sphere=\frac{4}{3} \pi r^3~} \)
See! :) Great work!
$$ \bbox [10pt, red, border:5pt solid blue] {\Huge\cal \color{yellow}{\bigstar} \color{yellow}{\bigstar} \color{yellow}{\bigstar} \color{yellow}{\bigstar} \bbox [10pt, red, border:5pt solid blue] {\Huge\cal \color{yellow}{\bigstar} \color{yellow}{\bigstar} \color{yellow}{\bigstar} \color{yellow}{\bigstar} \color{yellow}{\bigstar} } } $$
Well, looks like i don't need to teach you \bbox in a \bbox
what does \bbox stand for
bold box?
what does \cal stand for
Bounding box
and \cal is a font and i'm pretty sure its short for calligraphy
that makes sense
By the way, about the add, do you have any suggestions on what i can use instead of geniuses?
Ad*
I was thinking i could change it to people
people of all levels are here?
people at all levels
There are people on all levels?
this hyperlink thing still is bugging me , though let me try this ` http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i= \sum_{n%3D1}^{5}+n+`
*egad*
What?
Something wrong?
it went from blue to black suddenly
the hyperlink
Hmm, weird...
So what do you think of that? "There are people on all levels"
yeah you want it to be inclusive.
Let me put that in and ill show you what it looks like
also you can mention the chatting or social aspect of it somewhere
Hmm, i can say something about that in the huge gap between explaining OS and the website name
yes
there are people at all levels ready to help. (but thats not completely true)
Hmm, it is true most of the time.
What should i say about the chatting and social aspect of OS?
right,
