OpenStudy (ondinana):

I have no idea what to do. (Will post picture in replies.) What is the value of x? Round your answer to the nearest tenth if necessary.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know the Pythagorean Theorem?

OpenStudy (ondinana):

Not at all. OWO

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, the Pythagorean Theorem states that \(a^2 + b^2 = c^2\). A and B are the legs of a right triangle, c is the hypotenuse.

OpenStudy (ondinana):

And the hypotenuse is the longest side of a triangle right?

OpenStudy (ondinana):

So c = x yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, but the Pythagorean theorem only applies to right triangles.

OpenStudy (ondinana):

Oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But this is a right triangle, so we can use it :)

OpenStudy (ondinana):

:D

OpenStudy (ondinana):

Okay so, by a^2 does that mean area squared or is a representing a side?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a and b are the legs of the triangle

OpenStudy (ondinana):

I don't understand what you mean by that :(
