There are two identical balloons, both were rubbed with one piece of fur each. However, the pieces of fur were not the same size, one was larger than the other. Does the larger piece of fur create a stronger charge on the balloon than the small piece of fur on another balloon?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

more fur = more electrons available to jump ship to the rubber. plus greater surface area in contact. depends of course on how they were brought into contact. if just a point on the fur was brought into contact with a point on each balloon, then theoretically only those parts that touched will have exchanged electrons.
