give the formula of the line trough (0,2), parallel to line y=x+3

Nnesha (nnesha):

parallel lines should have same slope do you know what is slope in this equation y= x +3 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah I know that the slope is 1 because x=1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But I was struggling with the rest where I thought i had to fill in the coordinates

Nnesha (nnesha):

well u r right slope is one but x isn't one x have coefficient that's one so new equation should have m =1 y = 1x + b now use that order pair replace x and y by their values then solve for b

Nnesha (nnesha):

y-intercept where line cross y-axis when x =0 so you don't have to solve for b when x =0 the value of y you have with x suppose to be y-intercept for example \[\huge\rm (0 , 6)\] here x =0 y =6 bec x=0 so that's why y -intercept is 6 u don't have to solve

Nnesha (nnesha):

so y -intercept of new equation is = ??
