a taxi costs $2.50 for the first quarter of a mile and $0.75 for each subsequent quarter mile.A ride that cost $10.50 is how many miles longer than a ride that costs $7.75? explain

i will help to you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's 3 2/3 miles difference from the Ride that costs 10.50 than from the one that cost 7.00

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2.50+.75 m=10.50 \] subtract 2.50 from both sides to isolate the m (# of miles), then you will have the following\[.75m=8.00\] now, divide both sides by .75 to isolate the number of miles the ($10.50) can yield.\[m=10.66\] Next, do another equation for the other amount given. \[2.50+.75m=7.75\], subtract 2.50 from each side\[.75m=5.25\], next divide .75 from both sides to equal to \[m=7\] Now, subtract the # of miles of the second cost from the # of miles from the 2nd cost\[10.66-7=3.66 \]
