Help with solving trig equations

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

\[2-2\sin^2x=\sqrt3\cot(x)\] Find all solutions on the interval [0,360]

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

right away its just sin^2(x)=sqrt3cot(x)

OpenStudy (loser66):

nope

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

but 2-2?

OpenStudy (loser66):

factor 2 out, 2(1-sin^2) = 2 cos^2 (it is the LHS only)

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

I am a little bit confused the purpose of changing it to cos^2. Will it work out better in the long run?

OpenStudy (loser66):

Now, RHS : cot = cos/sin, right?
