How did the monarchies of England and France affect their societies differently? Absolute monarchy in France led to continued acceptance of serfdom, while in England serfdom disappeared. Constitutional monarchy in England led to representative government without a revolution, while France required a revolution. Absolutism in France delayed the intellectual Enlightenment, while England's constitutional monarchy fostered the Enlightenment. England's constitutional monarchy efficiently corrected the ills of poverty, while in France the monarchy ignored the poor.
