Two students in your class, Hunter and Maggie, are disputing a function. Hunter says that for the function, between x = -2 and x = 2, the average rate of change is 0. Maggie says that for the function, between x = -2 and x = 2, the graph goes up through a turning point, and then back down. Explain how Hunter and Maggie can both be correct, using complete sentences.

@Lady.Liv1776 @robtobey Will you guys help me please?

Hmmm this relate to inputs and outputs right? well, I think they can both be right because you can get different results by what you multiple both by. Lets see...I believe that one formula for a function is f(x)= x^2. soooo if you put either -2 or 2 in for x...you will get different results. one being negative and on being positive. So yes, they would both be right. Did that make any sense? lol

here's a website that is awfully helpful if you don't... https://www.mathsisfun.com/sets/function.html

Your post did make sense, i just don't seem to understand it tho, the link you sent me doesn't work on my laptop :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try it without the https in front. sometimes that makes websites not work
