How does Pulmonary edema affect gas exchange? I know that it • Increases distance over which gases must exchange • slows down gas exchange • may result in respiratory failure But I'm not sure about specifics.. can someone explain to me the details on the effect of fluid in lungs please? Thank you

Pulmonary edema is fluid build-up in the lungs. This fluid attaches air sacs in the lungs which makes it hard to breathe. This leads to gas exchange in the lungs, which can cause respiratory problems. Pulmonary edema is commonly due to the heart not eliminating the fluid from lungs properly.
