High pressure systems occur in areas where the atmospheric pressure is higher than the area surrounding it. They can be associated with clear skies and warm weather. High pressure systems create stable air which storms have a hard time forming in. And just so you can know the difference between low pressure systems and high pressure systems, low pressure systems form in areas where the atmospheric pressure is lower than the area surrounding it. Low pressure systems are associated with bad weather, like heavy precipitation and even tropical storms.
