C?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
well first, what can you use for x and y?? to make them true
OpenStudy (anonymous):
0 and -3?
OpenStudy (texaschic101):
1st one is wrong
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no, but here.. the only solution i have got so far was x=3 and y=1. plug those numbers in for the variables and tell me if they are right

3*3-9*1=0
-3+3*1=0
OpenStudy (texaschic101):
x + y = 6
x = y + 5
so sub in y + 5 for x back into the 1st equation
(y + 5) + y = 6
===============
-x + 3y = -3
3y = x - 3
y = 1/3x - 1...slope is 1/3...y intercept is -1
and then the other equation
3x - 9y = 0
-9y = -3x + 0
y = 1/3x + 0....slope is 1/3...y intercept is 0
since they have the same slope, but different y intercepts, this means they are parallel and there is no solution

thank you...can you help me with my other problems too?
