well... here's the tricky part we want to count the completed sections so actually there are five

so now that we know there are five sections total we have to find out how many shaded parts there are so lets count the shaded sections.

there is one shaded section so now we have 1 out of 5 parts shaded the denominator or divisor is the "out of" number the one that goes on the bottom and the 1 is the number that goes on top. So our fraction would be 1/5 or 1 out of 5 parts full :D
