so f(x) = 9x - 5 and g(x) = x + 3 and you need to find f(g(x))

OpenStudy (welshfella):

the way to do this is to replace the x in f(x) ( ie 9x - 5) by the formula for g(x) and simplify

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Substitute the equation for g(x) for x in f(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(g(x)) = 9(x + 3) - 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(g(x)) = 9x + 27 - 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(g(x)) = 9x + 22

i think thats the last step ^
