Actually, the Music Rules were not posted by a Moderator, they were posted by the COO, a co-founder and an Administrator. @ShadowFiend posted the rules a few years back. If a co-founder says something is against the rules; it is. Don't do it.

The Musics Rules are just an extension of the TaC rules, they aren't make new things up
much of it is to prevent breaking of the TaC
rap battles = cursing
youtube videos = copy right problems
sharings songs that aren't yours = copyright problems
etc

To add, YouTube links are not copyrighted. When you upload it to the site, it becomes Fair Trade. It is only when you start to make claims about the users' content and your ownership of the content

Let me give you an example when a Youtube video would be appropriate:

Lets say you are taking American Polular Music and your teacher assigned you to look for similarities and differences in the Fred Astaire and Tack recordings of Puttin' On the Ritz. Then, because these were the topics assigned, you could use the links to get help with those.

Other than something like that where it is clearly linked to the educational value of the class, no, it is not appropriate.
