Why did so many explorers and sailors go on risky and uncertain voyages to find new routes to India and China?

people go on long, risky journeys just to discover something new. Some great explorers were inspired by the talk of riches. By contrast, others just loved adventure and seeing unfamiliar places. Also, India and China do make a lot of things that Americans have now. We go back and forth trying to help one another.
