Look for question in reply, I've tried everything but the distance formula just wont help me, please help.
I've tried like 10 distance calculators, graph calculators, my head, but I just cannot get the answer right, i have wasted like 30 minutes on this and I want to stop wasting my time, please help me out
first find the distance from E to A then distance from A to G Do you know where station G is on the map ?
It's at (3,6) supposedly
no its south of A so its at (3,-6)the distance formula foe Ag is sqrt [(3^2 + (-6)^2)]
and for EA is sqrt (1^2 + 2^2)
I type the negative evry time i try to calculate
I just cannot for the life of me get the answer correct
when using your calculator be sure you put all the parentheses in
I do, nonthing is workthing, every time i try to submit, it says im wrong, i do everything right
or do the squaring first , then add and finally do the square root
I've done this, It just wont work, I will medal for anything leading me to the answer, like an equation or just the answer
hmm notice Station A is a 0,0 Station G is 3 units to the east, -3 and 6 units to the south, -6 G (-3, -6) and Station E is at (-2,1) \(\bf \textit{distance between 2 points}\\ \quad \\ \begin{array}{lllll} &x_1&y_1&x_2&y_2\\ % (a,b) E&({\color{red}{ -2}}\quad ,&{\color{blue}{ 1}})\quad % (c,d) G&({\color{red}{ -3}}\quad ,&{\color{blue}{ -6}}) \end{array}\qquad % distance value d = \sqrt{({\color{red}{ x_2}}-{\color{red}{ x_1}})^2 + ({\color{blue}{ y_2}}-{\color{blue}{ y_1}})^2} \\ \quad \\ d = \sqrt{({\color{red}{ (-3)}}-{\color{red}{ (-2)}})^2 + ({\color{blue}{ (-6)}}-{\color{blue}{ 1}})^2}\)
