Some questions. WILL FAN AND MEDAL. ^_^

OpenStudy (mstv1112):

1. Approximately how much of Earth’s surface is covered by land? 30 percent 50 percent 60 percent 70 percent 2. Approximately when did the ocean become an important area of study? 200 years ago 500 years ago 1,000 years ago 2,000 years ago 3. Which of the following is NOT considered one of the four major oceans? Atlantic Pacific Indian Antarctic 4. Where trenches do not exist, the steep continental slope merges into a more gradual incline known as the continental ____. abyss rise zone rift 5. Deep, steep-sided valleys that originate on the continental slope and may extend to the ocean basin floor are called ____. slope canyons submarine canyons abyssal plains trenches 6. Isolated volcanic peaks on the ocean floor are called ____. seamounts ridges nodules plateaus 7. Which of the following is NOT true about deep ocean trenches? They are long and narrow depressions. They are sites where plates plunge back into the mantle. They are geologically very stable. They form the deepest parts of the ocean. 8. Which ocean has the greatest average depth? Atlantic Pacific Indian Arctic

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

It's against the rules for us to just answer all of your questions, is there a specific question you need help with?

OpenStudy (mstv1112):

I don't want them all just answered im just unsure of my answers. I fI post my answers could you check em' for me?

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

Yes I can do that.

OpenStudy (mstv1112):

Okay 1. 30% 2. I think 200 years 3. Antartic 4. rise 5. submarine canyons 6. seamounts. 7. Im not sure 8. Pacific

pooja195 (pooja195):

is this a test?

OpenStudy (mstv1112):

No @pooja195 study quide but I need my study guide to be correct to do well on the rest of this unit

pooja195 (pooja195):

does this come from a textbook?

OpenStudy (mstv1112):

I take my classes online and my teachers post these and if you want you can use them but we dont have to I just think they help alot.

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

@mstv1112 #7 is They are geologically very stable, Scientist named Griggs developed a unique gravimeter that could measure gravity in the stable environment of a submarine and used it to measure gravity over trenches. His measurements revealed that trenches are sites of downwelling in the solid Earth. Everything else looks to be right.

OpenStudy (mstv1112):

So #7 is B And you're pretty sure about my answers?

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

#7 would be C, because griggs experiment proved that they were not stable when he tried to measure gravity.

OpenStudy (mstv1112):

Ooh okay. Thank you very much. I appreciate your help/
