how do I figure out how to factor a number this big...7n^2-3n-3322=0

OpenStudy (amistre64):

quadratic formula is pretty straight forward

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm trying the foil method

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its better to just undo the quadratic, completing the square is the longhand method of the quadratic formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't understand how to do that well

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

do you have to solve the equation or factor?

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

you cant factor

OpenStudy (amistre64):

then its prolly best to just use the quadratic formula: given: ax^2 + bx + c = 0 we can determine the roots as: -b +- sqrt(b^2-4ac) x = ----------------- 2a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am doing sequences and series

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, I will try that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it look like this: x=3+-sqrt(9^2-4(7)(-3322) all over 2(7)?
