OpenStudy (amistre64):

what is the length of each piece?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

A(9,4) and B(5,-4) -9-4 -9-4 ---------------- A=0,0 B=-4,-8 A'(6,3) and B'(3,-3). -6-3 -6-3 ---------------- A'=0,0 B'=-3,-6 for some scale factor t, we have: -4t = -3 or -8t = -6 what is t?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-1?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

um, -4*-1 is not -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

+1 but that doesnt work for the second equation

OpenStudy (amistre64):

solve for t -4t = -3, divide off the -4 t = -3/-4 = .75

OpenStudy (amistre64):

8*.75 = 6 so it works for that one too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you put that into a scale factor?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

for some scale factor t .... well we determined t = .75 so the scale factor is 1 to .75 i spose not sure how the lingo goes on it, your material should cover that part better than i can

thanks so much!

youre welcome
