If the diameter of the circle above is 18 in, what is the circumference of the circle?
A.18 in
B.81 in
C.9 in
D.36 in
OpenStudy (kidrah69):
\[c=2\pi~r^2\]
OpenStudy (kidrah69):
your diameter is \[18\] we need the radius so we will divide by 2 whats 18/2?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
There is suppose to be a pi sign behind every number
OpenStudy (kidrah69):
yeah i gave you the formula :)
whats 18/2

So its A
OpenStudy (kidrah69):
no we need to solve this still
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Is it A?
OpenStudy (kidrah69):
18/2 is 9 then plug it in the equation what do you get?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I dont know I just started learning these and its hard

Half of a diameter = radius
OpenStudy (kidrah69):
got that so far?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ya
OpenStudy (kidrah69):
\[C=2\pi~r^2\] that is the formula we use when finding the circumference understand?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Ya

OpenStudy (kidrah69):
ok so we said half of a diameter=radius
so we have a diameter which is 18 so to find the radius we divide by 2
\[18\div2\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
which equals 9 right
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So its C
OpenStudy (kidrah69):
C is right :)
