In your opinion do you believe Henry Thoreau was a coward or hero for spending his time in the Walden woods? Give a reason why.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thoreau was brave, a martyr of sorts. He had a belief and he sacrificed his time, his comforts, to prove and support the idea of simplicity. Live Simple. That was his mantra and in order to tell the world, he took a leap of faith and ventured into the woods. Was he a coward? OS Users aren't allowed to give direct answers... but I'm just saying... what's cowardice about sacrifice?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What about him being coward without telling anybody or sharing the idea of simplicity?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But he did, though inadvertently. Today we study his works and even if it wasn't his intention that act of discretion isn't cowardice. If it is, prove it. Remember, this is opinion based.
