Help with matching inequalities?
Which of the following inequalities matches the graph?
@iGreen @amistre64
x > -3 x < -3 y > -3 y < -3
for starters, what is the equation of a vertical line?
looks like 10 and -8?
x = k is the form of a line that is vertical ... so in this case, we have an x equality something, right?
right @amistre64
so the only question is: is the shading to the left or right of the x line?
right? @amistre64
|dw:1427387300911:dw| to the left so x is less than the line
i see so x > -3 is the answer?
no, the solution set is not greater than -3 its less than (to the left of) -3 all solutions for x are << that way from -3
so this? x < -3
yep
ugh these problems are so confusing :( I have one more help me with it please?
ill try
same question, just different chart
the answers : 2x + y < 7 2x - y > 7 2x + y < -7 The correct inequality is not listed @amistre64
i'm choosing C
@iGreen help asap please!? I think It's C
test an obvious point, like the origin (since it is clearly in the shaded region) if that point provides a true result, then that narrows down the options. 0,0 is a good test simply because it wipes out one side completely 0 < 7 0 > 7 0 < -7 or none of them
@amistre64 please respond need to leave
okay so d? wow.
A is looking pretty good to me
